Best Huawei Fit Watch

by

The Huawei Fit Watch is the brand’s latest fitness tracker, and sits somewhere between budget activity bands and serious running watches. Earlier this year, we saw the Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2e from Huawei. Both of which came with solid fitness tracking. But were held back by software limitations.

If you look at the Huawei Fit Watch, and compare it to the Huawei Watch GT 2 or Watch GT 2e. You’ll find it falls firmly into the ‘budget’ category. At £249 it’s not exactly a budget watch, but this price puts. It firmly in the range of bands that typically cost around £25.

One feature that many people who use fit watches are not aware of, is that by sharing their activity with insurance companies you may be eligible for discounted premiums.  Vin Agarwal of Diabetes 365 mentions ” many health and life insurance providers will offer discounted premiums to those individuals who are willing to share their activity.  As an example, life insurance for type 2 diabetics may be eligible for discounts as high as 15% annually, simply by sharing their fitness activity with them.”

So What Do You Get For That Price?

The Huawei Watch Fit features a 1.39-inch circular LCD display that’s 13.5mm thin and feels reassuringly light on the wrist. It’s not the most eye-catching of designs, but its black and silver finish. With only a touch of Huawei’s own blue variation. Are understated enough to go. With just about any wardrobe.

On the bottom of the watch

You’ll find a charging port. The Huawei Fit is available in two sizes. With different numbers of interchangeable 20mm bands. While I’ve been testing the ‘large’ model, which has an eight hour battery life, a number of the smaller bands with 4-10 hours of battery life are available.

The bands are available in a range of colors, with materials that include silicone, leather and metal. In the end I’ve gone for a standard silicone one, as this has the lowest price but is also the most comfortable. There’s also a large selection of colorways to choose from.

The Watch Fit doesn’t improve anything on the software front, but it’s a different kind of value proposition from Huawei. That brings most of the fitness and health tracking suite found on the Watch GT 2e. In a lightweight design that’s accessible, easy to use and, most importantly, affordable.

The company’s own-brand smartwatch range has always been relatively minimal in terms of the hardware. Under the hood, with a focus on the software for what is largely a cellular communication device.  The Huawei Watch 2/Classic 2 hybrid (in the US, UK and Australia it’s the Huawei Watch 2), sees Huawei try to go back to basics and is a step away from the more ostentatious Watch GT 2e. This time round, the Huawei Watch Fit is here to provide the fitness tracking. Features you’re going to be paying to access, but it still sits. in the Huawei Watch 2 range alongside the Huawei Watch 2 Classic.

Now that the most affordable device within the range

The Huawei Watch 2 Classic, is getting an update to Android Wear 2.0. It looks as if Huawei is bringing this cheaper Watch 2 range up to speed with the flagship Huawei Watch GT, leaving. The most affordable Android Wear smartwatches.
